Your retainer is made specifically for the teeth represented by your impression.
We use clear 1mm Iconic Lux material and manufacture each retainer in our UK laboratory.

There is also free UK postage, a prepaid Second Class label for returning your impression and free Royal Mail Special Delivery for your finished retainer.
How ordering a replacement retainer works
1. Order online
Choose an upper, lower or two-retainer option. We’ll dispatch your home impression kit the next working day.
2. Take your impression at home
Follow the instructions supplied with your kit and return your impression using the included prepaid Second Class return label.
We check your impression before manufacturing your retainer. If another attempt is needed, one additional impression attempt is included free.
3. We digitise your teeth
Once we have a suitable impression, we use it to create the digital information needed to manufacture your retainer.
4. Your retainer is made in our UK laboratory
Your custom clear retainer is manufactured, trimmed, finished and checked by our laboratory team.
Manufacture normally takes two working days after we receive a suitable impression.
5. We send it to you
Your finished retainer is dispatched free by Royal Mail Special Delivery.
Working days exclude weekends and UK bank holidays. Postal time is additional.

If you’ve previously ordered from Retainer.shop, we may be able to manufacture your replacement using your existing stored scan.
Eligible repeat appliance orders using the same scan receive 10% off.
Contact us first with your previous order number so we can check whether your scan can be used. If your teeth have changed, you’ve had further dental treatment or your existing retainer no longer fits correctly, tell us before ordering.

When should you speak to your dentist or orthodontist?
A replacement retainer is intended to fit the current position represented by a suitable impression of your teeth.
If your teeth have noticeably moved, your existing retainer has become painful or very tight, or you have concerns about your teeth or gums, speak to your dentist or orthodontist before ordering.
Don’t force a retainer into place over teeth that have substantially moved.
Our 14-day fit guarantee
If your eligible new retainer doesn’t fit properly, contact us within 14 days of receiving it.
Under our voluntary fit guarantee, you can choose a free remake or refund, subject to the published terms and exclusions.

How much does a replacement retainer cost?
A single upper or lower clear retainer costs £59.95. Two retainers cost £109.95. A new appliance order includes your impression kit and retainer case, together with free UK postage.
Do I need to visit a dentist to take the impression?
Our service uses a home impression kit. Follow the supplied instructions and return the impression to our laboratory, where it is checked before we manufacture anything.
If you’re unsure whether a replacement retainer is appropriate for you, or your teeth have moved significantly, speak to your dentist or orthodontist.
What material are the retainers made from?
Our clear retainers are manufactured from 1mm Iconic Lux material.
How quickly will I receive my impression kit?
We dispatch impression kits the next working day. Working days exclude weekends and UK bank holidays.
How long does the retainer take to make?
Once we’ve received and accepted a suitable impression, manufacture normally takes two working days. We then dispatch the finished appliance by Royal Mail Special Delivery. Postal time is additional.
What happens if my impression isn’t suitable?
We’ll explain what needs another attempt. One additional impression attempt is included free.
Can you make another retainer from my previous Retainer.shop scan?
Potentially, yes. Eligible repeat appliance orders using the same stored scan receive 10% off. Contact us before ordering so we can check your previous order and scan.
What if my old retainer no longer fits?
Don’t force it into place. If your teeth have moved or the retainer has become painful or no longer fits properly, contact your dental professional for advice.
